The End - The Final Post
A while back, I wrote a Blog post on here talking about how my film watching had changed since I regularly started going to the cinema bak in 1987. It was at first the big studio films, it began with Lethal Weapon after all, but slowly over time that changed to include foreign films, small independent films, films that at one time I would simply overlook completely.
As a consequence, not only did my film watching explode, but also it became much richer. But eventually I needed an outlet for film thoughts. Friends might have enjoyed watching films, but they didn't have my passion for film. And so I created this Blog.
Over the years since it was created, I have reviewed a number of films, from most genres, mostly new ones but a few older films too. I enjoyed writing it. Later on, I decided to create a seperate horror Blog, my favourite Genre. And I enjoyed writing on both, though if I'm honest I neglected this one for awhile as I built that one up.
I have come back to this one on and off but has been left behind these past couple of years.
And then Covid and Lockdown hit.
While I have watched a lot of films during this period, with the exception of a reviewing a screener or two or a film that piqued my interest, again I somewhat left this Blog behind. I probably had it in the back of my head that when Lockdown ended and cinemas reopened, I would get back to it again.
But a funny thing has happened. My love of film seems to be changing again. Since cinemas reopened, a curious thing has happened. The films that got me hooked on cinema, the blocbusters released since the reopening, like Fast & Furious 9, Black Widow and now the new Bond film, No Time To Die I have found either bad or disappointing. That in itself isn't always a bad thing, it could simply be a run of poor films. But it is more than that. I felt nothing for them. I was watching for the sake of watching. Somehow, and I don't know why, studio films outside of horror films don't seem to interest me. And outside of the films I cover on my Horror Blog, I have no interest in reviewing or writing about them.
And so, as a consequence, I have decided to mothball this Blog. It is possible I may return to it at some future point, a film will come along that relights my passion. But until then, I thank every single person who has stopped by my Blog here and taken the time to read whatever nonsense I posted. You may or may not disagree with what is posted, but I they were my own thoughts and I have enjoyed posting them.
But for now, it is time to roll credits and fade to black...
